The challenge of crate training a puppy can be daunting. I remember when Ellie, our golden retriever was just a pup... We adopted her when she was 5 weeks old and immediately began crate training. She slept in her crate at night with potty breaks outside every 2 hours. It was a sweet, fun but exhausting time, similar to having a newborn baby in the house. At first Ellie seemed to catch on to the routine and only had a few small accidents in the house, mainly when we were not watching her closely. We thought our pup had mastered crate training when she was about 8 weeks old. But then she had some set backs. It was like she forgot all of the training and started having accidents in the house again. It was probably because we, her "trainers" slacked off on taking her out as frequently as at first. At this point, we knew we needed some help.
Dog Potty Training Bells provided a way for Ellie to signal us when she needed to go outside. Dog Potty Training Bells hang on a door knob and the jingle bells signal that your dog needs to go outside. We trained Ellie to nudge the bells to "ring" before we went outside for a potty break. Frequent potty breaks and consistency was key to her training. Before we knew it, she was ringing the bell on her own, letting us know she needed to go outside. What a good pup!
